Ingredients
For the Meatloaf
- 1 lb Ground beef mix of lean and fat
- 1 cup Breadcrumbs
- 2 large Eggs
- 1 medium Onion finely chopped
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Salt adjust to taste
- 1 tsp Pepper adjust to taste
For the Creamy Brown Gravy
- 4 tbsp Butter
- 1/4 cup All-purpose flour
- 2 cups Beef broth low-sodium
- 1 cup Heavy cream
- 1/2 tsp Dried thyme
- 1 cup Optional: sautéed mushrooms for extra flavor
Method
How to Make
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, chopped onion, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
- Shape the mixture into a loaf and place in a greased baking dish.
- In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour until smooth and lightly golden.
- Gradually whisk in beef broth. Stir continuously until thickened, about 3-5 minutes.
- Stir in heavy cream and dried thyme until creamy.
- Pour the gravy over the meatloaf and bake for about 1 hour, or until internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing to keep it juicy.
